Yeats set to create history

The upcoming Ascot Gold Cup will prove to be a very interesting race with everyone’s eyes looking at Yeats, from Aidan O’Brien’s stable.
They will be on the lookout for a possible and amazing fourth win in this race, after dominating the staying division for so long. As no horse has won the Gold Cup four times, it would be really special if he can pull a win at the race.

This eight year old will be aiming at staging a comeback of sorts however, after his dismal performance when finishing sixth to Alandi in the Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan. In fact, it was widely thought that this performance may indeed dent his confidence in readiness for this upcoming race, but I am not so sure this view is correct.
Plus, the conditions in Navan did not actually suit him, but his yard feel that it could be a different story at Ascot.

Yeats has worked to give the performance of his life for this race in recent seasons. With the poor run at Navan now out of his system, and potentially better ground expected at Ascot, I think he has a chance to achieve his quartet of wins in this race.
In fact, he is still favourite for the race – he’s generally available at 9-4 at the moment, despite his poor Navan performance.

Johnny Murtagh is in the saddle and ready to guide Yeats to victory after having partnered him last year too.
Johnny feels that the fast ground and two and a half miles distance of the course is suited to Yeats, plus he of course knows Ascot so well and therefore will be in familiar surroundings.
