Taunton continues to taunt McCoy

Tony McCoy’s luck seems to be failing him after he failed to find his 3,000th jumps winner when he failed to hit the target even after two mounts at Taunton. McCoy has been stuck at his 2,998 mark since last Thursday but has met with a bout of bad luck with most of the meetings getting abandoned because of bad weather.
His first mount here was on Adare Prince, trained by Philip Hobbs at the Carlsberg UK Handicap Chase where he failed. His second attempt at his 3,000th jumps winner was tried on a last minute ride on You Know Birdie for Neil Mulholland.
This race was the Trull Mares’ Handicap Hurdle where she first looked a strong contender for first place. However in the end, she had ended up third in the race.
McCoy now has his eyes set at Bangor that is scheduled on Friday, if the meeting survives a 7.15 am inspection. He will also be riding Galaxy Rock at the first EBF National Hunt Novices’ Hurdle, Forty Five during the Delamere Washington LLP Handicap Hurdle and on Picture in the Sky during the Hampton Veterinary Group Novices’ Hurdle.
He is also scheduled to ride Paisley Cross at the concluding race in the Racing Club Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race and the Philip Hobbs trained Belcantista at the totesport Trophy at Newbury on Saturday. With so many races up in his hands, I think that McCoy should finally reach his 3,000th jumps winner pretty soon.
