Pomme Tiepy Out of National after Cheltenham

The big news today is on Pomme Tiepy, who fell at the ninth fence at Cheltenham on her most recent start. Today she was ruled out of the Powers Whiskey Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse by trainer Willie Mullins.
This is unsurprising considering the fall at Cheltenham, however the fall itself was a surprise after Pomme Tiepy’s stellar record up to that point. As recently as February of this year, she had made her fourth successive win at the Keatings Oil Ten Up Novice Chase at Navan. In that race she was a 4-6 favourite and won over Kilcrea Castle and Badgerlaw, who made second and third respectively.
Pomme Tiepsy was high in the betting for the National. However Mullins pulled her stating:
“I wasn’t 100% happy after we scoped Pomme Tiepy on Friday morning, so she will have to miss the Irish National,” (www.racingpost.co.uk).
Pomme Tiepy’s mount Ruby Walsh will replace Robbie Power on Alexander Taipan.
Regardless of this news, we aren’t too concerned regarding her future. With her impressive record, this ex-French mare, a nine-lengths winner on debut at Cork in December of last year, is sure to make a stunning comeback in the near future.
