With his amazing victory at the Boxing Day William Hill King George VI Chase at Kempton, Kauto Star set an unprecedented record of four consecutive wins in this great annual event. He registered a comfortable and clear 30 length victory over his nearest rival and managed to eclipse Desert Orchid’s previous four win record, although as I mentioned previously “Dessie” never did it in consecutive years.

Kauto Star’s amazing record of four consecutive wins in this event, plus his other victories thus far in an illustrious career, must make him the steeple chasing legend of today in my opinion.

While the Boxing Day features went off as scheduled at Kempton, I am sad to hear that it’s not the same elsewhere. I found out that Musselburgh’s fixture for Tuesday has been abandoned because of frost. This was declared after officials carried out an early morning inspection of the course on Monday.

So far, today’s hurdling and bumper action at Limerick has been given the go ahead despite sub-zero temperatures after an inspection this morning. In the meantime, despite frost, it looks like racing will take place as usual at Leicester as temperatures are expected to rise.

A similar verdict has been announced for today’s meeting at Leopardstown after a morning inspection. This is because though it was cold overnight, the ground is still yielding.
