Kite strikes victory at Newbury

With his victory in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury today, Kite Wood is the confirmed leading St. Leger hope. With this win, he is now 4-1 from 8s for the classic with Sky Bet.

I heard that Sky Bet had to forcefully trim his Doncaster odds by a point today because of a solid trial and because he did not want to let his supporters down. According to Matt Doyle of Sky Bet, the Godolphin horses ran well and with lots of confidence, especially under the able reins of Kite Wood.

The twice raced Urban Poet, under the charge of Saeed bin Suroor, is at present 8/1 with Sky Bet for the St. Leger. In the meantime, the 3-1 market leader Harbinger will be racing in the Great Voltigeur Stakes on Tuesday at York.

Sky Bet has also introduced Azmeel into the 2000 Guineas betting at 20-1. This follows his Listed win in the Washington Singer Stakes at Newbury. After making a winning start at Sandown, John Gosden’s colt, managed to cruise home to victory in another impressive display. This makes him unbeaten in two starts, after his winning debut at Sandown.
