The champion sprinter Takeover Target’s three time British campaign comes to an end with its trainer Joe Janiak stating that his stead would return to Australia to nurse a suspensory ligament tear.
However Janiak states that this injury does not mark the end of Takeover’s career, and that it would race again once treated. He states that he is returning home, though it is a small problem for if Takeover was pushed on, it may lead to the end of him. He states that the most important thing is that it’s not the end of him, and that they still have him.
Takeover Target was slotted to make the third start to his English campaign in the group 1 July Cup (1200m) at Newmarket, on July 11. Everyone had thought that its last appearance had taken place in the group 1, Golden Jubilee Stakes, during the Royal Ascot where he had finished fourth to Kingsgate Natiave.
This was four days after his second place win in the group 1 King’s Stand Stakes. Before reaching UK, Takeover Target had won the KrisFlyer of Singapore. Being a great horse, Janiak had bought Takeover Target for $1250 at a tried horse sales, and has since then it has won him more than 5 million dollars in prize money. I think this was a wise investment on his part…..
