Greatwood to see great names

By making the leap up to Group Three company at Naas on Monday, the British raider Electric Eel now faces the acid test. Marco Botti sent the filly to the Coolmore Stud Fillies’ Sprint Stakes after her debut win at a Newmarket maiden at the beginning of May.

Botti said that she had come out of Newmarket run in good order, but although she was moving in the right direction, it was still difficult to say how good she really is. Though the ground is fine for her, she really will have to put in a top performance as this is going to be a very tough race.

He even mentioned that they would try her out at Ascot if she did well tomorrow; but this would be decided on only if she runs well tomorrow.

In addition to this race, Electric Eel has been declared as one of the four runners for the 100,000 euros race which Jim Bolger’s Cuis Ghaire had won last year.

Another interesting piece of news I heard on the grapevine was regarding some of the great names will be parading at Greatwood in a couple of weeks. They have a charity for retired racehorses and children who have special needs.

The race is scheduled on Sunday, June 14th and some of the great horses scheduled to race are New Seeker, Edredon Bleu, Cool Dawn and Bindaree.
