I have just learnt that Bauer, the runner up of the Melbourne Cup may be stripped of this race position and prize money worth $537,115 because of the treatment he had received last month. It is thought that this veterinary treatment he had taken may have breached regulations in terms of use of performance enhancing drugs.
Related formal investigations in this matter will be held on December 11, when Bauer’s managing part-owner returns from UK. As far as I remember, if Bauer gets disqualified, it would be the second time his English based trainer Luca Cumani would be stripped of a runner up finish in this race.
Now coming back to something back home, I think that the Seasons Holidays Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown that is to be held on Saturday should be an interesting one. This is because Champion Chase hero Master Minded is scheduled to make a re-appearance for the race, with Tony McCoy on the saddle.
The champion jockey McCoy is considered to have a better chance of a win in the race, despite the presence of the Abergavenny jockey Sam Thomas, the present number 1 rider for trainer Paul Nicholls. Moreover, the stable jockey Ruby Walsh has been sidelined from the race because of an injury.

The six time champion jockey, Kieren Fallon is once again free to ride in races from September 2009. He was on an 18 month ban for using cocaine, which expired on November.

The British Horseracing Authority had announced on Friday, November 28 that we will be able to enjoy more of Kieren Fallon’s horse racing antics, once he re-licenses himself with BHA and completing some tests.

He will have to undergo a drug testing program and get a favorable report from BHA to get re-licensed with BHA. While all this goes on, we have something interesting going on across the oceans, where the Japanese racehorse Screen Hero amassed a surprising win in the $5.5 million Japan Cup.

This win gave Japan its third successive win in the richest race in Japan. Screen Hero was actually a 30-1, and was not a contender for the race. He had run the 2,400 meter race at Tokyo Racehorse within three minutes to upset the other favorites of the race, Deep Sky and Vodka.

According to Screen Hero’s Italian jockey, Mirco Demuro, Screen Hero tends to start fighting in a race the moment he gets closer to others. This is very important in a racehorse, and elemental for Screen Hero’s first victory in a top rated race.

As we’re nearing the month end, I thought that you would been interested to know how our horse racing tips have been performing so far this month. The answer is … a lot better!

Its been a funny few weeks I have to say … and not funny ‘ha ha’ but Friday 13th, black cats and walking under ladders funny … yes, Lady Luck just hasn’t been with me lately - both on and off the course :o(

From horses being pipped at the post to others being withdrawn at the last minute the racing gods have not been smiling on us so much lately, but that’s changed this month (more about that later). Its also been a challenging month on the technical side for me, as internet problems and computer problems have meant that updating this blog and my horse racing tipster service site has been impossible.

But now everything’s hunky dory again!!

Anyway enough doom and gloom, I’m sure you want to know about our latest selections.

Well, Cheltenham proved to be a happy hunting ground for us, with Hoopy winning nicely on November 14th in the 1.15pm at the great value price of 15/2 and then this was followed up by Shinrock Paddy leading from start to finish en route to a comfortable win 2 days later in the 4 o’clock. I hope you got the 14/1 price that I advised in the morning, but if you did not you still got a respectable 15/2 once again.

A week later (November 23rd), and my Irish contact was at it again, recommending the seemingly unknown Dunroe Lady, who obliged with a win at 7/1 SP, although again I advised on the line to take the 10/1 that was initially on offer.

So a good end to the month and there may be more to come, and I will of course update you to give you our end of month tally, but as it stands as of today Grosvenor Racing Club is 15.5 points to the good for November, so a solid performance.

Thanks for bearing with me while I sorted my little gremlins out and I’ll be back with you in a few days.

October was a funny month for my horse racing tipster service I have to say. Thankfully, my latest horse racing tips meant that we managed another profitable month, keeping our great record going this year.

I would like to digress for just a moment though, as I am sure you all heard the latest horse racing news that Dean McKeown will not ride ever again, having had his jockey’s license removed by the British Horseracing Authority.

Last month, the 48 year old jockey was warned off for four years, following a ruling from a BHA disciplinary panel. McKeown was adjudged to have been part of a conspiracy to lay a number of Paul Blockley-trained horses. In one of the latest horse racing investigations involving high-profile jockeys, he was also found guilty of not allowing horses to run “on their merits”.

This is a sad end to Dean’s career, however it highlights the fact that the authorities are constantly looking at irregular betting patterns, suspicious on track activity and poor horse performance, which can only be a good thing I feel.

So how did we fare at Grosvenor Racing Club this month? …. well, after a rather sticky month, not helped by some poor weather and a lack of luck - although I am not using these as excuses - we finished the month one point to the good.

This was helped in part by a great end to the month, with Glenfinn Captain romping home in getting us a win at Clonmel in Ireland. Our value strategy paid off once again as this gave us a 4/1 winner, so well done to all of you who backed that one!

We also claimed another winner on the last day of the month, as Rainbow Seeker won at the all-weather evening meeting at Wolverhampton, giving our members a good 11/4 return.

So onward and upward for November, and we are still keeping our 21 day free trial open until the end of the year, so please click the link if you want to take advantage of our horse racing tips.

Well, he did it.

Last weekend, the international horse racing scene was at boiling point, and after keeping my fingers and just about everything else crossed, Yeats put in a brave display to win at Longchamp in what was an impressive 1-2-3 for the UK and Ireland.

And it was a similar tale over at the Breeder’s Cup, as no less than FOUR British trained horses tasted success at a meeting which generally doesn’t favour the Brits.

In fact, my research into the international horse racing archives tells me that the previous record for Breeders Cup successes by the whole of Europe, let alone by Britain, was three wins.

This statistic alone demonstrates the size of the feat achieved and one that all concerned can be extremely proud of.

Under the guidance of Frankie Dettori, the impressive Ravens Pass took on with relish the extra distance he was asked to confront under in the 1.25 mile Classic. The scililating win completd a heroic double for both Dettori and trainer John Gosden.

Gosden’s ever improving two year old Donativum, followed up a recent victory at Newmarket (when beating the Racing Post Trophy winner Crowded House), by pipping Aidan O’Brien’s Westphalia into first place in the Juvenile Turf.

For anyone who watches the domestic stuff and doesn’t really take an interest in international horse racing meetings, you missed a treat. Although the races can often not be quite as exciting as we’re used to in the UK, this past weekend was certainly an exception.

The next date for quality international horse racing and one for your diaries is the meeting at the Flemington racecourse, and the running of the 148th Melbourne Cup.

If you’re a fan of international horse racing, as I am, then this weekend is going to provide you with a bumper 2 days of top class racing. Although I rarely give out tips through my racing tipster service for international horse racing events I am still an avid fan.

Over in the US, the Breeders Cup is under way and has already seen some great performances, notably by Forever Together in winning the Grade One Fly Emirates Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf at Santa Anita.

This weekend will also see one of my current favourite horses Yeats battel it out in the Prix Royal-Oak at Longchamp on Sunday. Yeats is hoping to finally make it big on the internation horse racing stage as previously the seven year old has flattered to deceive overseas, particularly in France.

Hopefully the confidence of winning his third Gold Cup at Royal Ascot this past June will stand him in good stead and trainer Aidan O’Brien is hoping it will be third time lucky after two successive odds-on favourite failures in the past.

O’Brien is on record as saying “Yeats is in good form but it’s just that maybe the season has been long. We don’t know, but he seems to be in good form at home”. He went on to say “People say that he might not handle Longchamp but Johnny (Murtagh) felt he didn’t make enough use of him the last day. Johnny felt that, I’m not saying that’s right, but he wanted him to run here.”

With some quality domestic racing complementing the weekends international horse racing bonanza, I’ll be glued to the tv hoping that Yeats can bring back a trophy to Britain in what will be a tough encounter, and I hope that all of you will do too.

Yes you did read that correctly, Your resident horse racing tipster is now back in the fold after a brief absence caused by a short stay in hospital :o( I won’t go into the finer details, however suffice to say that I’m ok and raring to go again.

Whilst this is the first time that I’ve posted for almost 3 weeks, my Grosvenor Racing Club tipster service has been operating for a little over a week, after my return back from hospital.

Its been a tough month both on and off the track, with lady luck deserting us at critical times and key moments in certain races not happening the way we anticipated.

At one time we were almost 20 points down, a stark contrast to our recent successful form thus far this year…

In the past week we have managed to trawl ourselves back to a mere 4.5 points down, thanks to three victories that highlight our ‘Value’ mentality, as opposed to backing favourites all the time, as some services do.

Rory’s Sister (7/1) started our good run with victory at Punchestown, followed by Slam Dunk at 11/2 in the meeting at Dundalk. Our Irish contact came up with the goods again, to give us a great chance of breaking profit this month.

The trio of winners came when Judge N’ Jury came home ahead of the field in the 3.35 at Catterick to give us a nice 13/2 winner, so we’re now only 4.5 points down with a third of the month left to go.

This snapshot of winners, albeit in the middle of a dry spell for us this month, really does highlight the benefit of going for quality and value over quantity and even-money horses.

I hope to be updating you next week on another profitable month for us, so watch this space.

Though Willie Carson is the best Scottish jockey, he had never managed to win the Ayr Gold Cup. However things have now changed with his 19 year old grandson William winning John Smith’s Ayr Gold Cup by two and a quarter lengths.

Both he and the runner up of the race, Tajneed were trained by David Nicholls who had won five Gold Cup wins in nine years. Though David’s son had high hopes on Tajneed, it was Carson and Regal Parade who had won for the day.

According to Nicholls, he had advised William to ride with confidence and fair credit and this is exactly what he had done. And with this, he had a great ride and win to make the day a great one for him.
William said that he had a fairly easy job in winning the race as Regal Parade just went to the front and he just kept going after that. William had also spoken to his grandfather, who was just delighted with the win.

After all, William had managed to win a race that his grandfather never managed to win as a jockey, giving all the more reason for William to be happy. The other highlights for the day were a win for Jimmy Quinn with Aspen Darlin in the Laundry Cottage Stud Firth of Clyde Stakes.

Betting in horse racing is most successful if you plot and follow a betting strategy. Before betting, it is better to get a strategy, and not only bet on whims. However I don’t mean that you have to be inflexible in your betting. What I mean to say is that you have to bet, but in a structured way.

If you have a habit of making small bets on some horses over the weekend, I suggest that you try to make larger and more serious weekend bets. In fact, I suggest and think that it is even better if you eliminate all your ‘fun’ bets altogether so that you can place bets more seriously and in a much better manner.

I feel that it is indeed much more fun to win consistently in horse racing, than in losing haphazardly later by making too large a bet, and without plotting or following any strategy of action.

And most important, when betting, you have to enjoy your betting. In other words, what I mean to tell you is that you should know just when to stop betting. If you are on a continuous spell of losses, it means that you have to change your system.

Remember that horse racing and betting is a pleasure and not an adrenaline rush. If you feel that your betting is taking control over you, then get some help through counseling. Remember that it is always better to be sooner than later.

One of UK’s most prominent race horse trainers has sponsored a study at the University of Glasgow Equine Hospital where horses will have access to tiny cameras, which can check a horse’s breathing in full flow.

These cameras will be passed through the horse’s nose and respiratory tract so that images will be beamed to a control center. These images will show the movements in a horse’s breathing system. With this information, researchers will be able to see the various movements in the horse’s tract, and warn them of any medical condition in the horse.

Besides its medical benefits, the well known trainer Mark Johnston says that this Dynamic Respiratory Endoscope also has great potential in the horse racing industry. In the horse racing industry, every second counts.

And so with this endoscope, I think that owners will be able to diagnose a sickness well before hand while riders will be able to find out how tired a horse is during training and racing.

The breathing speed tells the rider how tired the horse is and other important information that proves revolutionary to the horse racing system. Better horses with better stamina will be able to perform much better in horse races.
