The latest addition to John Best’s troupe of impressive two-year winning colts is the beautiful colt, Square Eddie. Eddie had managed to outclass his rival Jeremiah in the Emma Arbery Memorial Maiden Stakes held in Salisbury yesterday.

Eddie’s win gave a great treble to his jockey Steve Drowne when he ended the race a good three and a quarter lengths ahead of Jeremiah. With this win, Eddie helped endorse the high opinion Best already had of him.

Eddie is the son of Smart Strike who ended up 11th behind the Art Connoisseur during the Coventry Stakes. However the other successes of Drowne were unpredictable where he ended up 25-1 shot with The Composer in the Matthew Clark Handicap and with a 8-1 shot with the Lancaster Lad during the Country Leisure Ltd. Handicap.

The Composer was trained by Michael Blanshard and had joined fresh after a three month absence as he had hurt himself while hitting the crossbar thrice over hurdles. I think that The Composer is now back in business, and expect some horse racing wonders from him.
