I heard that Black Bear Island will be making his final start for Aidan O’Brien in the Secretariat Stakes which will be held at Arlington Park on Saturday, before he heads out for new pastures.

It was in May, in New York that the Sadler’s Wells colt had won the Dante Stakes. However this was his only commendable performance in the recent months. After this, he finished down the pecking order in the Investec Derby, only to go on and claim a third place in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Moreover, he was rather disappointing during his recent start at Longchamp. All this had lead to his getting snapped by American owners. And this is why he will be moving to a new stable in the United States after the valuable event on Saturday.

According to O’Brien, if there was still some pace left in him, O’Brien expects him to go at least ten furlongs. O’Brien also mentioned that Black Bear Island was a horse that liked a flat track and galloping. This is why he had managed to win at York, in Dante, which can be considered his best performance.

He also mentioned that Black Bear should do well after being trained in America, so we’ll see how it pans out for him.
